Notices This Week
| Today is the final opportunity to contribute to the offering for the work of the Leprosy Mission following Lisa’ visit two weeks ago. Please make sure all gifts are clearly identified or handed direct to Eric. |
| The new House Group in the Chobham area is now up and running. The Group meets twice a month, on a Monday at 7:15pm. They meet next on the 27th at Sylvia Elliot’s. |
| The Church Annual General Meeting will be held on this Wednesday 22nd February. |
| There is a new Flower Rota in the vestry for you to sign up to provide flowers in the Church. Make sure you sign up soon, especially if there is a particular week that you would like to do.
There is also an opportunity for someone to take charge of the Church flowers. We need someone to arrange the flowers for others who would like to provide the flowers but can’t actually do them themselves and to sort the flowers out at the end of the service so that they can be given to those who may need cheering up, a “thank you”, etc. It doesn’t have to be the same person for both jobs and if you feel this is something you would like to get involved with, please talk to one of the Deacons. |
| Please note the date of the Church Anniversary: Dr Ernest Lucas, Vice Principal Bristol Baptist College will be with us on 24th and 25th March 2012. The Sunday evening service will be at 5.30pm to allow Dr. Lucas to return to his South Wales home at a civilized hour! |
| Please book 4th March in your diaries, when the SEBA team Leader, Rev Stuart Davison will be preaching. |
| There will be a Church Working Day on this Saturday 25th February, from 10am to about 3pm. We will be aiming to tackle a wide range of activities from Spring Cleaning to regular DIY tasks, so please come armed and ready! The initial list of jobs is up to allow you to get a better idea of what’s needed or even claim your favourite job! |
| It is hoped to start the refurbishment of the Kitchen over the Easter Weekend. Eric is looking for competent DIYers to work with him for any part of the weekend, Friday 6th to Monday 9th April. Please speak to him to discuss what might be involved and how much time you might be able to spare. Lunch is already taken care of, so we will be well fed! |
| Woking Business Matters Invite you to a Lunch with Andrew White, Vicar of Baghdad on Wednesday 29th February at 12.40 for 1.00pm – 1.50pm, at The Lightbox, Chobham Rd, Woking, Surrey, GU21 4AA. This event is free, but invites a contribution of £10/head to cover costs. Lunch provided.
Canon Andrew White, the vicar of St George’s Church in Baghdad, has extensive experience of conflict mediation in Iraq and the wider Middle East. Compassionate, shrewd, and gifted in human relationships, his first hand connections and profound insights will make this a fascinating event and his inimitable personality is sure to inject extra sparkle to the proceedings.
